Mellow Yellow Ice Cream
A slow, mellow heating of MJ and cream grabs all that THC from the cannabis and bonds it with the fat of the cream. It follows, then, that ice cream is the perfect stoner vessel for…getting more stoned. Here, then, a banana-rum ice cream. With cookies.
¼ stick Butter
½ gallon half-and-half, plus half cup whipping cream
1 cup sugar
Aprox 8 – 10 g crushed, de-seeded MJ
3 Tablespoons Rum
5 Tablespoons Honey
5 egg yolks
1 vanilla bean
Heat the cream in a pan until nearly boiling. Meanwhile, in a second pan, melt the butter with the sugar and salt. Combine the two pans. Add the weed into the creamy mixture and simmer at the lowest possible setting for one hour. Remove from heat, let cool to room temperature.
Pass the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheese cloth. Discard the weed detritus.
Split the vanilla bean length-wise and add to the pot, bring back to a low simmer.
Remove vanilla bean and with the tip of a knife scrape out the beans and add to mixture.
Mix egg yolks in a bowl. Take two cups of the cream and add to egg mixture. Slowly mix.
Add egg mixture back into the bowl, set at the lowest possible heat setting. Constantly stir to prevent the eggs from scrambling. Stir constantly 10 – 15 minutes, and the mixture will thicken to form the ice cream base. Add rum, bananas, honey, cookies, and whatever else appeals, stir five more minutes.
Let mixture cool in refrigerator until all heat is removed.
Put the mixture into ice cream maker. Follow manufacturer’s instructions.
